Tasks are managed from My Tasks hub.

The management of tasks facilitates the management of projects and keeps them updated in real-time. When you keep track of task deadlines and communication, you ensure that the status of projects is always in sync with the dynamics of reality. As the smallest building block of a project, and to keep the system properly functioning, tasks should be completed on time.

5 rules for efficient task management

1. Use the Remind me column in My Tasks Hub to create your own task prioritization.

For example, when you have a task with a longer deadline, you can give it an earlier priority in order to have enough time to complete it. This is a common practice with tasks that take longer to complete or have special priority.

Note: You cannot set a reminder for late tasks or tasks that you follow.

2. Change the status of a task to “Done” when you complete it. This will notify everyone connected to the task that it has been completed.

3. Request a change of deadline if you think that you won’t be able to complete a task on time. Add a short description explaining your reasons. For example: ‘I need more time to complete the task, because the supplier is late’. This way you let the person who assigned you the task know that it will take longer to complete and the deadline needs to be changed. It is very important to ask for a new deadline and not let the task run late. By doing so, you give project managers time to react on time to potential problems and delays.

4. Add a comment if you need additional information or you want to share such. It is very important for the entire task communication to happen only in the comments section and avoid other channels such as internal emails, chats, or word of mouth. Preserving all task discussions in the comments section will keep the entire communication history and save you time searching and clarifying problems.

5. Create sub-tasks when you want 1) to delegate part of the work on your task and involve a co-worker or when you want 2) to reassign your task to someone else. Creating sub-tasks is a recommended action when you want something not only to be discussed but completed in a specific timeframe.
