When you open a task, Sub-tasks are in the Task Tree section/tab nestled between Comments and Files.

Every task owner and task assignee can create sub-tasks and delegate to one or more people the execution of different elements of their task.

If several people work on the same task, you will be able to see all involved in the Task Tree tab, as well as check the status of each sub-task.

3 things to remember when dealing with sub-tasks

Sub-tasks complete the parent task

If a task (parent task) has a sub-task, when you complete the sub-task this will automatically complete the parent task and remove it from My Tasks dashboard. When all sub-tasks are completed, the status of the main task will automatically switch to "Done", and the system will send a notification to the task owner.

If you can’t change it to “Done”, you are not in your task

In some cases, the system won't allow you to change the status of your task. This means that you have not selected the sub-task assigned to you.

Go to the Task Tree tab and select the task showing only your name/avatar.

Notifications will inform a task owner when everyone is done

If several people work on the same task, the task owner will be notified every time someone completes their task.

Note: When the main task is late you won’t be able to create sub-tasks. You have to first update the deadline of the main tasks and then do it.
