Activities are an integral part of every project. Simply put, an activity is a project step. In the system, activities are always looked at in the context of a project, so that project managers can make informed decisions and solve issues quickly.

Moreover, thanks to the system’s Dynamic Planning Methodology, PMs always work with activities that are ready for execution (actionable). Once activities become actionable, they are managed with Remind me from My Reminders Hub.

Tip: Create an activity for each important step a project needs to go through in order not to miss anything. Once you become more experienced in the management of your projects you can activities and save the rest as a new project template.

Activity elements

Each activity has several important elements accessible when you open a project.

  • Status

Activities can be New, In Progress, Done, or Canceled.

Labels help sort activities by different criteria such as type of activity or responsible team.

Activity dependencies trigger the automatic assignment of reminders to activities when they become actionable. You can set dependencies only between activities with the same or earlier target deadline.

The duration of an activity indicates the number of days you plan to spend working on it.

Target Deadline is the desired date by which аn activity should be executed.

In the Remind me column, you set reminders for actionable activities. Use it to set the earliest possible date for the system to remind you to take action on an activity. Activities with a reminder are managed from the My Reminders Hub.

  • Execution Date

Execution Date is the actual date an activity is completed.

Delays are only on project level and show the difference between a project's Target Deadline and Execution Date.

  • Notes

When you create an activity you can add an additional note in the description box.

Tasks are to activities, what activities are to projects – they are all connected. When work on an activity starts, PMs normally assign tasks that will help complete the project step.

  • Attachments

Each activity grants quick access to all files and links associated with it.
